From the 26th to the 28th of April 2026, EUJS brought together over 25 participants from 11 European countries for the Embracing Jewish Diversity (EJD) Accelerator in Berlin. Representing Jewish student unions, grassroots initiatives, community organisations, cultural and religious movements, and LGBTQ+ organisations, participants came together to exchange experiences from their EJD projects and explore how they could contribute to more inclusive and representative Jewish communities across Europe.
Over three days, participants worked on questions of identity, belonging, accessibility, representation, and leadership through workshops, peer learning, and practical exchanges. The programme included a visit to Kunstatelier Omanut, a unique Jewish initiative working with adults with disabilities, a leadership workshop with Debbie Danon, a London-based leadership consultant, Jewish text study, and a public event featuring different perspectives on diversity and participation in Jewish communal life. Participants also worked collectively on recommendations for Jewish organisations, civil society, and policymakers, translating experiences from grassroots projects into proposals for wider change.
The Accelerator marked the culmination of the first three-year cycle of the Embracing Jewish Diversity programme. EUJS is deeply grateful to the UJA-Federation of New York for its generous support of the Embracing Jewish Diversity programme and its continued commitment to a more diverse and inclusive Jewish life across Europe.
