RESOLUTION - Establishment of a network of young European Jewish creatives

EUJS notes that:
- The global rise of antisemitism after October 7th 2023, has forced Jewish creatives all across Europe to either conceal their Jewish identities or risk being cancelled by their artist circles.
- Jewish artists are not as free to express their opinions and experiences or gain exposure for their art in comparison to their non-Jewish counterparts.
- There are not as many opportunities for European Jewish creatives to connect with each other, to expose their art and to grow, especially for those below 30 years old. This is even more true for artists whose art has a more visibly Jewish character.
- The European Union is a multicultural mosaic that comprises many different cultures and identities, all of which should have equal opportunities to be expressed.
EUJS believes that:
- Young European Jewish creatives are isolated from other artists, both Jewish and non-Jewish.
- Connecting European Jewish creatives to one another can be very beneficial to them in terms of potential collaborations and in terms of building solidarity.
- European Jewish creatives need opportunities to hone their skill, to gain exposure and to exist within the community as much as their non-Jewish counterparts.
- Jewish creatives should have an equal chance to contribute to the cultural mosaic of Europe with non-Jewish artists.
EUJS resolves to:
- To found a network of Young European Jewish creatives whose purpose is to provide a platform for them to connect, to express themselves, to exchange ideas and to contribute to their evolution as artists. The aforementioned network will function mostly online through various seminars and online meetings, to explore the possibility of in-person meetings of the network.
- To adopt the aforementioned network in a manner similar to other established and adopted networks.
- To reach out to other European Jewish organisations whose main object of interest is a form of art (e.g. art galleries, music festival organisers, etc.), so as to connect to their members or ask for their support.
- To appoint at least one individual who will undertake the task to spearhead this initiative and liaise with EUJS and its Member Unions.
