As European Jewish students, we recognize that our mission goes beyond borders and communities, it is about responding with solidarity wherever injustice and crisis strike. Today, Spain is in crisis, and authorities have not acted upon their competences in the matter.

In Valencia, climate change has hit hard, causing one of the worst disasters in Spain’s recent history. Over 2,200 people are missing, and over 200 lives have been lost. Homes have been destroyed, families displaced, due to a natural disaster whose severe repercussions could have been lessened.This catastrophe is a call to action not only for immediate help but also for systemic change. Climate inaction cannot be tolerated any longer. We demand political accountability from European leaders to confront the climate crisis with the urgency it deserves. It is time for bold action to curb the devastating impact of climate change and safeguard our communities and future.

The past week, thousands of volunteers have mobilised, showing the true strength of the Spanish people. These everyday heroes are rescuing neighbours, clearing debris, and providing support where officials have failed.

As Europeans, we must join forces, stand with the Spanish people, and insist that our leaders act on the climate crisis now.
