BUILDING RESILIENT COMMUNITIES: A YOUTH PERSPECTIVE

On November 13-14, the European Union of Jewish Students participated in the second European Jewish Communities Summit in Barcelona, focusing on Building Resilient Communities. The goal of the conference was to exchange and learn about critical aspects which are currently affecting our organizations by exploring various best practices related to community resilience-building.
Key themes included the development of relations with local municipalities and national or even EU governmental authorities. Furthermore, a strong focus was put on developing and designing a community communications plan and building relations with the media. Security and preparedness in our communities was another important topic which was covered at the conference, together with participative models and best practices.

It is crucial for youth to be active in community-building, in order to bring in new ideas, energy and perspectives. EUJS was excited to be present and share our best practices and insights as an organization that tries to empower young Jews to be change-makers in their own communities.
