The World Jewish Congress (WJC) is the umbrella organisation of Jewish Communities in the world, representing over 100 national Jewish communities. It was founded in 1936 in Geneva, Switzerland and has today its headquarters in News York City, USA. The mission of WJC is to foster the unity and represent the interests of the Jewish people, and to ensure the continuity and development of its religious, spiritual, cultural, and social heritage. The main goals of WJC are to enhance solidarity among Jewish communities; to secure the rights, status and interests of Jews and Jewish communities and to defend them; to assist Jewish communities in strengthening their Jewish identities; to represent and act on behalf of Member Communities and the Jewish people; to preserve the memory of the Holocaust; to combat antisemitism; to foster, support and participate in inter-faith dialogue; to encourage and promote gender equality and the involvement of younger Jews in Jewish communal and organizational leadership. WJC is a long-standing partner of EUJS. It supports EUJS in its political endeavours but also financially. Through the NextGen Program, the WJC support various and numerous actions of EUJS.
