Jewish Youth (JU) is Denmark’s central organisation for young Jews, serving as a social, cultural, and political community for those aged approximately from 15 to 35. JU has roots dating back nearly 100 years — the first Jewish youth association in Denmark was founded in 1919 and has since existed under various names, including DJUS (Danish Jewish Youth Association), before becoming known today as JU.
The organisation’s mission is to strengthen Jewish identity and create a space for young Jews in Denmark to connect, share experiences, d approximately betweenand engage. JU hosts a range of events, from cosy Shabbat dinners and parties, board game nights, and political debates, as well as educational campaigns, workshops, and international conferences through networks such as EUJS, WUJS, and SJUF. The focus is on both community and learning through social, cultural, and educational events.
In recent years, JU has also emerged as a stronger political voice, actively advocating for the rights and interests of Jewish students at universities and in the broader public sphere.
JU is an open, inclusive, and informal community — a place for both those who are curious about their Jewish background and those who already lead an active Jewish life.
