The Czech Union of Jewish Youth (Česká unie židovské mládeže – ČUŽM) is the official umbrella organisation for Jewish youth, students and young adults in Czechia, uniting individuals aged 15 to 35. Since its founding in the early 1990s after the fall of communism, ČUŽM has provided a pluralistic and inclusive platform for young Jews to explore their identity, build community, and take an active role in Jewish life.
ČUŽM organises a wide variety of activities, including celebrations of Jewish holidays, educational seminars, Holocaust remembrance events, interfaith programmes, and the annual Judafest—a public festival of Jewish culture. The Union also coordinates volunteer initiatives such as the restoration and cleaning of Jewish cemeteries throughout the country.
Beyond its community-building work, ČUŽM plays a strong political and advocacy role. We actively combat antisemitism, represent Jewish students in dealings with university administrations, and speak out in defence of Jewish life and values in Czech media and public institutions.
As a recognized member of the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic (FŽO) and the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS), ČUŽM is a proud and active voice of the new Jewish generation in Czechia – nationally and internationally.
