EUJS General Assembly, Burgas – Bulgaria, 30 August 2018

The European Union of Jewish Students believes:

1. EUJS defines itself as a zionist organization according to the following principles:

1.1. The right of the Jewish people to self-determination is inalienable. The right to self- determination is directly connected to historical and cultural, religious and communal ties to specific territory.

1.2. The Jewish people have a historical, cultural and religious tie the modern State of Israel and to historical Palestine. This embodies the realisation of the right to self- determination in this territory.

1.3. The rights of the Palestinian people to a national home are valid, and a Two-State Solution remains the most viable way to achieve this.

1.4. The European Jewish student community holds diverse views on issues relating to Israel, and whereas Israel holds a special place within the hearts of the overwhelming majority of young European Jews, EUJS has a unique responsibility to understand and convey this diversity.

The European Union of Jewish Students resolves:

1. To endeavour to advance the prospects of peace between Israelis and Palestinians, supporting the work of grassroots and political organisations on the ground in order to break down barriers and spread a message of tolerance, reconciliation and acceptance.

2. To encourage exchanges between Israel and the Diaspora, working with other communal organisations to build understanding between European Jews and Israel.

3. To be a vocal ally and advocate of Israeli civil society organisations that share EUJS' aims, and work alongside such bodies in order to protect and advance the rights of Israel's minority groups, in accordance with its Proclamation of Independence.
