The 9th EUJS Ambassadors to the UN Seminar

The European Union of Jewish Students offers selected individuals the unique opportunity to become EUJS Ambassadors to the United Nations Human Rights Council:
Through workshops and high profile meetings young Jewish activists will be equipped with the knowledge, tools and skills to become advocates for the Jewish people at the UN. Participants will be exposed to the highly politicized and bureaucratic world of this institution, learning how to navigate it and how to best influence its decision making bodies.
Participants will have access to the Human Rights Council, enabling them to experience its mechanisms and functioning form. Finally, they will act as the ambassadors and spokespersons of the European Jewish youth, raising the concern of their peers on a variety of topics such as the treatment of Israel by the international community, the Iranian threat, the ongoing genocides around the world and the discrimination against minorities in Europe.
Participants will also have the opportunity to gain knowledge and better understanding of International Humanitarian Law in order to empower European youth to engage in dialogue of the Middle East conflict;
The seminar will take place between 22nd - 26th of June 2014. Only the ones who participate in the entire seminar are eligible to attend.
Cost: participation fee of 80 euros for students under 25 and of 150 euros for young professionals plus travel costs
CALL FOR SPEECHES:
Each participant will be able to submit a two minute speech. EUJS will choose the best one and give the opportunity to the author to speak as official EUJS NGO-representative in front of the Human Rights Council!
The European Union of Jewish Students will focus on the following Items:
Item 7: Human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories
Item 9: Racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance, follow-up and implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action.
